Please read these instructions carefully prior to using your new Fumpa, use it only as recommended and for the purpose for which it was designed.
Intended use
Your Fumpa is intended for use as a portable air compressor to inflate bicycle tyres, up to a maximum of 120psi. Using a Fumpa needle valve (sold separately), your Fumpa can also be used to inflate sporting equipment such as footballs, netballs and basketballs.
A Fumpa can be used to inflate car and motorcycle tyres but it will not inflate these tyres completely from flat.
Fumpa is not designed to inflate large volume inflatable objects
such as blow-up swimming pools, inflatable boats, beach balls, large blow-up toys etc.
The manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused by
incorrect operation.
Safety instructions
Protect Fumpa from rain. Do not store outside. Keep away from extreme heat.
Child safety: Fumpa is not a toy! It is not to be used by children unless supervised by an adult.
Risk of fire: Fumpa contains a lithium battery, please ensure you do not expose Fumpa to temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celcius. Do not leave Fumpa alone in a hot car.
Risk of electric shock: Never use Fumpa with wet hands and always check your USB-C cable for signs of damage before charging.
Risk of explosion: Do not use Fumpa near explosive or combustible gases, liquids or reactive dust particles such as aluminium, magnesium or zinc.
Environmental Protection: Fumpa contains a lithium battery. You can replace your Fumpa’s internal battery with a Power Pack (sold separately). If disposing of a replaced battery or unwanted Fumpa, please do so appropriately for a device containing a lithium rechargeable battery.

When opening your new Fumpa’s box, you will find the following inside…
- 1 x Fumpa bike pump with an OLED screen
- 1 x USB-C charging cable
- 1 x black storage and carry case
- 1 x small resealable plastic bag to store the brass Schrader valve adapter
Note: We strongly recommend keeping your Fumpa and it’s charging cable in the supplied carry bag when not in use.
Controls
Fumpa has three user-control buttons on the top plate, under the OLED screen. The ‘minus’ and ‘plus’ buttons, and the ‘play’ button.
Charging
Charge your Fumpa by connecting the supplied USB-C cable to
the charging port on Fumpa’s side (see illustration for location).
Connect the other end of the USB cable to a computer USB port or USB wall charger (neither supplied).
The ‘play’ button will glow red, indicating that Fumpa is connected to a power source and now charging its battery.
Note: The button will continue to glow red even when the pump is fully charged to indicate that Fumpa is connected to a power source. Using a 5V, 2Amp USB power supply, Fumpa should recharge in about 1 hour.
CAUTION!
Never leave your pump charging unattended. Do not operate Fumpa while connected to a charger. This can damage Fumpa’s battery management circuit so always disconnect charge cables before using Fumpa. Poor quality wall chargers from non-reputable brands and suppliers can damage your Fumpa and may pose a fire risk. Only charge your Fumpa using wall chargers purchased from reputable consumer electronics stores. Ensure your wall charger is marked with at least one of the international compliance symbols.
Turning Fumpa on and off
Pressing the ‘play’ button for 1 second will turn your pump on. Fumpa will automatically switch itself off after two minutes of inactivity but holding both the ‘minus’ and ‘plus’ buttons down simultaneously will manually switch Fumpa off.
Setting up the valve nozzle
Fumpa has been designed to work with both Presta and Schrader valves. When you receive your Fumpa the nozzle will be set for Schrader valves. To use Presta valves, unscrew the cap, remove the brass insert, flip the seal around and screw the cap back onto the nozzle. Store the brass insert in the supplied little resealable plastic bag.
Using Fumpa
After powering-on, Fumpa will display a welcome message followed by a zero pressure reading in your selected measurement unit: psi / kPa / Bar.
The right-hand side of the OLED screen will show the current battery charge (%) and selected measurement unit.
Setting the pressure units
To change the measurement unit, press and release the ‘minus’ button and the ‘plus’ button simultaneously, then cycle through the three options with the ‘minus’ and ‘plus’ buttons. Pressing ‘play’ will set your preferred pressure measurement unit: psi, kPa or Bar.
Note: Pressure unit selection is stored in Fumpa's memory. So, for example, if you select Bar as your pressure unit and turn Fumpa off, when you turn it back on again you will find Bar is still your default pressure unit.
Using automatic mode
You can either set Fumpa to automatically inflate your tyre to a preset pressure then stop, or use Fumpa in manual mode.
To use Fumpa in automatic mode, use the ‘plus’ button or the ‘minus’ button to set the desired inflation preset pressure, then press the ‘play’ button to lock-in this pressure.
Pressing then releasing ‘play’ again will activate the pump in auto mode.
Manual mode
To use your Fumpa in manual mode just press and hold the ‘play’ button; Fumpa will start pumping and the OLED screen will display the current pressure. Releasing the ‘play’ button will stop Fumpa from pumping as you reach your desired inflation pressure.
Inflating a tyre
We recommend positioning your tyre’s valve at the vertical top (12 o’clock) by rotating the wheel before inflating. This position will keep the weight of the bike against Fumpa’s nozzle and also will minimise the risk of sealant entering Fumpa’s nozzle should you be using tubeless tyres. To further reduce this risk, please wait for a minute following tyre rotation before connecting Fumpa, this allows the sealant to drain down away from the valve.
Connect Fumpa to your tyre by pushing Fumpa's nozzle firmly onto the tyre's valve, creating an airtight seal. You may find that the seal inside a new Fumpa's nozzle feels tight around the valve. The seal will soften with use and over time, this will become easier.
Following inflation, Fumpa should be disconnected from the tyre’s valve by firmly pulling the nozzle directly away from the valve.
Note: The maximum pressure Fumpa can pump is 120psi (830kPa or 8.3Bar). If this pressure is reached, Fumpa will automatically stop pumping.
Temperature
During normal use Fumpa may become warm to touch.
Fumpa is miniature air compressor and can generate considerable noise and heat whilst operating.
Fumpa is not a toy, it is a tool. It is fitted with an internal temperature sensor and if critical temperatures are reached, Fumpa will stop operating temporarily and a message will be displayed on the OLED screen that Fumpa needs to cool down before continuing. This will avoid your pump overheating and being damaged.
Battery
Fumpa is powered via a rechargeable lithium battery. Fumpa includes battery protection circuitry to ensure safe operation of the battery.
For a once-a-week Fumpa user, the battery should last for years.
For more regular users who start to see Fumpa’s rechargeable battery ageing (reduced battery power after fully charging) Power Packs are available to order from the Fumpa website. These ‘do-it-yourself’ refurbishment kits contain new batteries, seals, end-caps, materials and instructions to refresh your Fumpa back to factory condition.
Warranty
Your new Fumpa comes with an automatic 12-month warranty. If Fumpa suffers a breakdown due to a material defect or workmanship issue, we will (of course) repair it free of charge within the warranty period. Troubleshooting
Fumpa won't turn on when I press the ‘play’ button!
Fumpa’s battery probably requires charging from a USB wall charger using the supplied USB-C cord.
Fumpa feels warm!
This is completely normal. If Fumpa becomes hot, turn the unit off and allow it to cool down before continuing. If Fumpa’s internal temperature sensor reaches a ‘shutdown’ temperature, the OLED screen will display a message that Fumpa needs a short rest to cool down.
Fumpa is making a weird siren-like noise!
Turn Fumpa off by holding down the ‘minus’ and ‘plus’ buttons simultaneously, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on by pressing the ‘play’ button.
Air is escaping from around the nozzle!
Make sure the nozzle is tightly screwed on, if not then the ‘O-ring’ may not be forming an airtight seal. If this does not solve the problem, you may need a new seal inside the nozzle as they do wear out over time through friction against tyre valves. You can easily order replacement seals from the Fumpa website.
